Budget Day 2007

The much awaited day.. Budget Day in Singapore. We're all waiting for news and details about the 'Progress Package' to offset the upcoming GST (Goods & Services Tax) hike.

Though there has been alot of coverage in the past few months since the GST hike was revealed, hopefully cries of help for the middle-class sector will not be overlooked this time.

The system tends to give out most to the lower end of the income group and the least to the higher beings.. but from the 2 packages of the past, they have grossly overlooked the struggling "middle-earth people". They missed out from the fat paycheques of the system because they actually made just enough to support themselves and maybe a few little ones. Yet, they are not well-to-do enough not to feel the impact of the tax increases.

The sandwich-class.

Many are struggling to move up the social ladder and the timing of the tax hike might just add a few more steps to the ladder.
