thurday's thoughts CNY

Nothing much to update lately.. just back to work after 4 much-needed days of CNY (Chinese New Year) holiday.

Still kinda in a holiday mood... things are moving pretty slowly in office and many are still on leave.. till next monday I presume.

Well, CNY is practically over for most people thought 'officially' CNY last for a total of 15 days.

Nothing news-worthy to blog about the past few days.. The usual visiting relatives, collecting the ever-shrinking angpows (Red Packets with $$ inside), feasting on steamboat, cookies, pastries, sweets, nuts, Bakkwa and Yu Sheng.

Find it rather amusing that those once-a-year relatives can religiously year after year after year ask the same questions and getting the same answers and still seemed surprised at the answers.

Anyway, felt the mood this year is nearly non-existent. Seems to be decreasing yearly.. wonder will it come a day where CNY in Singapore will only be look forward to for the long holiday and be celebrated with holidays abroad.

Reunion dinners will be ignored, exchanges of mandarin oranges and visiting will be forgotten, ang pows and traditional cookies are no where to be found.

The way I see how the mood and traditions have evolved when I was a kid till now.. it's a pretty scary probability.

How technology has eroded tradition....

Happy Lunar New Year, Travis!!!

i do agree with u that relatives do get increasingly annoying with their SAME questions every year! =p

Anyway, lotsa my friends are saying that as one grows older, CNY is no longer as fun as before and that the significance has changed...

Well, might as well just enjoy the moment now.. the reunions dinners and all.. =D

Cheerios! & Take care, dude!
