thurday's thoughtsWork work work

Pheew... what a hectic day at work! This is great! Adrenalin is pumping through my veins,my fast dying brain-cells are miraculously resuscitated once more... I suddenly feel alive again! (hmm.. does this sounds like I've been slacking for way too long? Hahhaaa..) Time really flies when you're running short of it. Before I know it, it's coming to 8pm.

Finally... I feel like I'm actually giving my $$'s worth!

It's now 9.20pm... shall have my long-awaited dinner. I'm famished!!
Later guys!

wednesday's thoughtsHouse or Home

S
tarting a family... it's a very exciting thought.

The house, the deco, the tons of stuff to buy to make it into
a home, your very own address, the wedding, the kids and of
course the headaches when it comes to bills, installment plans,
never-ending signing of cheques, the horror of seeing your bank
account and your cpf heading south overnight but last and most
importantly... your other significant half.

Whether all the above weighs in favour of a pleasant &
memorable experience or a nightmare solely rest on the 2
people in the middle of it.

Understanding... a simple word but a difficult action.

Fault-finding will never see any dead-end, with that in
mind... why not divert that attention to a person's positive
points instead? Those very same points that made each other
so attracted to another in the beginning.

Like some unwritten rule, most couples tend to nitpick on each
other once their so-called 'honeymoon' period are over. All they
see is what they do wrong.. but what about the rights?

Does 1 negative negates 10 positives?

That doesn't sound like quite a fair trade does it?

(Btw, this post doesn't stem from my personal experience.. it's just a thought.)

tuesday's thoughtsGreat Ads

Saw some really great outdoor advertising... really creative! This is what outdoor ads are all about! Interesting application of medium + effective interaction with its environment = Ads that not only brings its message across but leaves a huge impact as well.

Kudos!

tuesday's thoughtsAbout time..

Finally... something to get my brain cells running again. Work has been pretty stale lately.. Mostly routine stuffs that's quite idiot-proof.. eg. repackaging.. changing only the model no. and specs, putting logo here & there.

B . O . R . I . N . G . !

Well... at long last, there's an ad worth wrecking this underused-brain for. A concept ad showcasing our lastest range of SLIM monitors. Notice I'm highlighting the word slim.
Yup, that's the aspect as well as the selling point I'm trying to bring out... as besides that, basically this product sucks. (sssshhh! dun let my boss hear that!)

Anyway, had a great 2hr brain-storming session with our copywriter, managed to whip up a few outrageous ideas (as I want this ad to be something totally different to all our past ads) and at the last moment... we hit the jackpot!

I think it's gonna be a pretty interesting concept that could well develop (in the future) into a marketing event ... if we have the budget. Oh well, that's another story.

Well, shall update more... once the visual is ready.

monday's thoughtsA peek

The hard-earned piece of paper.. that cost me 350 bucks..
Was it worth it?

YEAH !!
Every cent! Hahha..

Oh, here's little peek into what my brain will be gorging on for the next 4 weeks...

monday's thoughtsCourse Updates

After 2 intense and gruelling days of lectures and boating.. I've finally completed my Powered Pleasure Craft Driving License (PPCDL) course. 10hrs a day for 2 days, I was holed up at the idyllic and peaceful surroundings of SAF Yatch Club (SAFYC) where my instructor LTC David Lee briefed us on the terms of boating and numerous rules and regulation of marine navigation.

Terms like Aft, Transom, Astern, Bilge, Port, Starboard, Freeboard, Draught, Keel, Awning, Bitt, Wheelhouse and Gunwale... names I've absolutly no inkling of prior to this course.

It's almost like learning a new language. The rules & regulations (R&R) are pretty staggering. Considering there are 3 types to drill into my head.. Powerboat R&R, MPA R&R and Intl Sea Law R&R!

Apart from that.. learning to read nautical charts is an art form in itself, with the complex lines/dots/arrows/ criss-crossing and dissecting all over, the millions of symbols, numbers, beacons and buoys.

We also got to learn to pinpoint our exact location out at sea with bearings taken from our longtitude & latitude, GPS readings, tidal/weather conditions, depths of water, meanings of the different colours/shapes/lights of ships/beacons/buoys/markers out at sea or port.

The sequence of blinking lights.. eg. 3 short blinks, 6 short blinks and 1 long flash, 9 short blinks, short and 3 long.. this is just for white lights.. there's still
red, green, yellow!

The different fairways (terms for roads in the sea), plotting of sea routes, reading and understanding stuffs like eg.
( 01°N 27.948', 103°E49.946' )

Seems like alot to cramp in 2 days, ya?! Well, it is. That's why we're only scrapping the tip of this infomation iceberg. In the coming 1 month before my theory test (Jul 20th), I've a 184 page manual to get inside my head.

Looks like its.... Study time!!

More intersting pics tomorrow!
Do check back!!
