True Love - Defined?

As a follow-up to my previous entry... I was msn-ing with Shir about love & me turning gay(that's another story all together) and stuffs, we started debating about True Love.

She believes it exist.

I don't.

Or at least not anymore.

Here's what I believe "True Love' consists of in today's society.

Agree? No?

You're right as well... it's subjective & this is purely my chart.

What's yours?

If anyone's chart consist of just the "Red" part, titled "Love" & you're a gal...

I'd love to meet u!

well, too lazy to re-type everything.. so I'll just extract our conversation here:

™berrie.ROARRRRR.bad luck looms again says: erm

me: would u stick to a guy, even if he beats u, gambles all his money away, come hm drunk most nites or when u dun see any hint of security in the future togethr... but still stick to him..

™berrie.ROARRRRR.bad luck looms again says: huh seriously i think if the guy loves me he will not do that to me

™berrie.ROARRRRR.bad luck looms again says: i believe if a guy loves mehe will want to give me the best

Happened to chance upon your blog and the title caught my attention. I don't know, but your expections from a girl you would want to meet consist of just plain 'LOVE' seems rather naive from my point of view. No offence intended, however I feel that people today tend to throw the word 'Love' around freely. Especially the younger crowd who surprise me by saying 'I love you' to their partner.

Again, you said that females today are into physical/financial attraction and security respectively. You cannot deny that Love would not keep one from feeling pain, hunger or thirst. Love would not pay your bills my friend. I won't say that I am not one of the females who are not attracted to a guy's good looks. I believe it is in our animalistic instincts to be attract and to be attracted. eg, peacock.

'would u stick to a guy, even if he beats u, gambles all his money away, come hm drunk most nites or when u dun see any hint of security in the future togethr... but still stick to him..'

I would not stay with a man like that, however I would still love him if circumstances allow. I agree with your friend that a man who truly loves me would not abuse me physically nor psychologically.

I see love as a stage in which you have gone past infactuation. Past the desire for the body of the person and actually seeing further than that. To see who he/she for he/she is and why you love that person so much. I believe it is more about the mind rather than pure infactuation, lust or whatsoever. I believe most of us are driven by the lust within us and fall into the entrapment of 'love'.

I believe love should be unquestioned, but often, we still do. In any relationship, there will always be a time where their love for each other is tested, that is how the strength of their love is defined. It is always a different experience.

I don't believe in Love at first sight. I tend to think of that as Lust.

I guess I should just leave it as it is. Thought it'd be nice to share a little. Have a good day.

Cheers.

Hi Wanwen, I couldn't agree with you more. Of course I don't just expect 'Love' to be just plainly love. That would indeed be naive. Maybe I'm just upset that love seems so polluted these days, taken so lightly & too much for granted.

Well, love is a strange feeling.. to some extend.. it's indeed blind.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.. do drop by again!

cheers
